We have discovered two online Military Maps of large parts of Europe prepared for the Military authorities of the Austo-Hungarian Empire.
We were told about the first map by Kroum N Batchvarov. It shows much of South Eastern Europe at 1:200,000 scale and is believed to have been compiled by the Austro-Hungarian General Staff. It is a vast resource and various parts of the matrix were drawn between 1875 and the 1930's. Part of Military Map of Southern Europe You can find this large scale military map of Southern Europe here. The second map, produced a bit earlier in 1829, shows all of European Turkey including the entire Balkans and Greece and parts of Anatolia. Is at quite a large scale, but can be zoomed in on several times and like the first map It is more suited to a strategic than a tactical game. Part of 1829 Military Map of European Turkey You can find this military map of the Balkans here. |
