Two Military Maps of the Balkans
Written by Web Master

We have discovered two online Military Maps of large parts of Europe prepared for the Military authorities of the Austo-Hungarian Empire.

We were told about the first map by Kroum N Batchvarov. It shows much of South Eastern Europe at 1:200,000 scale and is believed to have been compiled by the Austro-Hungarian General Staff. It is a vast resource and various parts of the matrix were drawn between 1875 and the 1930's.

The second map, produced a bit earlier in 1829, shows all of European Turkey including the entire Balkans and Greece and parts of Anatolia. Is at quite a large scale, but can be zoomed in on several times and like the first map It is more suited to a strategic than a tactical game.
